Dear Doc,
Why do I wake up in the middle of the night and find myself humping myself in a half asleep mode? At first I don't get any sensation but as I continue the sensation gets bigger until I ejaculate. Is this wrong since I'm technically half asleep! Or should I continue and let nature take its course?

Doc's Answer

You are simply experiencing a nocturnal emission, more commonly called a wet dream. It is involuntary, very common in teen years, and can continue to some extent later in life. It is not wrong/sinful. The “half asleep” you mentioned? That’s the dream part; it will normally be of a sexual nature; and the nocturnal emission usually occurs during that dream state. Some people sleep all the way through it, but others awaken just before the ejaculation. The ejaculation is going to occur whether you are half or fully asleep. From a practical point of view, the advantage for the half-awake guy is that you can squeeze off your urethra to buy time to
get to the toilet or grab a towel or tissue and not mess up your underwear.
